The Random Rule

No alcohol on any of the ranges!

News

Mr. Stokes is resting well after a three day nap in the hospital.
Mr. Sours mentioned a disturbing subject. He is aware of a veteran who earned the Purple Heart and is being asked to pay for the medal. Call your federal representatives and complain, please.
The draft rules proposals read at the December meeting will be discussed and voted on in April. If you have any insight, proposals or changes to these or other club rules, please come prepared.
We would also like to remind everyone that the speed limit on our road is 10MPH. This limit has a very important two-fold purpose. There are kids that live near the entrance to the road, and we need to keep them safe. The low speed also helps keep our road from undue wear and tear.
The winter months are coming and there will be more shooting from the garage. Please refresh yourself with the rules for using the garage, and of course exercise more than enough caution in making certain that the range is safe. And above all, please be courteous to others. Whether you are the folks using the garage, or you are someone affected by the garage use, know the rules and treat each other the way you wish to be treated.
IMPORTANT!

It has become known that certain members have chosen to provide the combination to the new gate lock to friends of theirs who are not members. You may think you are being a buddy, but you are cheating yourself and the rest of us.

We pay dues and work at the club for our use of the club. Why do you feel it is your right to give it away? If these unauthorized guests visit the club without a member accompanying them, have you also given them a copy of your key so they can illegally enter the clubhouse and other secured areas? Since they are there illegally it is unlikely that they will sign the guest book, and as a result the waiver? So while they are there illegally, what happens if they are hurt, hurt someone else, or damage our property? If our insurance company inquires as to the circumstances surrounding their presence at the club, and finds out they were there illegally due to the actions of a member, will they pay for the health care costs or property damage? If they do not, will you?

If you give access to the club to a non-member, without you accompanying them, you will be ejected from the club, no questions asked. If your friend is found to be at the club illegally because of your actions, they are trespassing and will be prosecuted. Is it worth it?
In addition, we had an incident at the club recently that involved a member engaging in an unsafe shooting practice, as well as some unintentional damage to club property. The officers have reviewed the facts in the case and have disciplined the member. As we have said in the past, do not shoot at anything that is not backed by a dirt backstop or other back stop intended to stop fired rounds. And do not shoot at or detonate anything that will damage target stands, backstops or other club property.
Adopt a Window

We are attempting to replace the ancient, antique, vintage, just plain old windows in the clubhouse. We want to accomplish this through a novel approach. Funds for the windows along the west side of the clubhouse (facing the upper range) are just about secured, so those will be done first.

With respect to the windows along the east side of the building, we would like to appeal to those human senses that respond to TV ads for needy children and abused animals.

We would like our members to "adopt a window". For just a few pennies a day, you can have that warm and fuzzy feeling in the clubhouse on cold winter days. We will even provide you with a photo of your window, and a small card of appreciation from your window once it is safe and sound in our clubhouse. We will keep you informed as to your window’s progress so you can see just how much benefit your contribution is providing. Once all the windows are safely in house, we will place a group photo of the class of 2012 in the clubhouse, and a plaque on the wall listing all those philanthropic folks who made life better for these innocent windows. Without your help and kindness, these windows may never know a better way of life. God knows, without your contribution, some of these windows may end up in the home of a liberal.

So please let me know if I can count on your kindness and generosity in this effort. Call me at my office at (217) 241-5385, or email me at DANLONG12@AOL.COM Or even better, just send me a check.
